OTT release of the film “Fighter”: Following the immense success of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan”, director Siddharth Anand unveiled his next project, “Fighter”. Produced by Marflix and Viacom 18 Studios, this action-packed movie hit the screens on the eve of Republic Day 2024. Notably, it marked the first collaboration of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone as lead actors in a Bollywood production.
Crafted with a substantial budget of ₹250 crore, the fighter film exceeded all projections, soaring to great heights. As reported by Sacnilk, it amassed ₹254.83 crore domestically and an additional ₹104 crore from overseas markets, achieving a commendable worldwide total of ₹358.83 crore.
Director Siddharth Anand, as per Pinkvilla, intends to develop a sequel to “Fighter”. However, he intends to delay its production until after the eagerly anticipated “Tiger vs Pathaan” release, which reunites Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on the silver screen.
Plot of the film “Fighter”:
Terrorist Azhar Akhtar devises a plot to attack the Indian Air Force base in Srinagar. The “Air Dragons” team is assigned the crucial mission of preventing the attack. Leading the team is Group Captain Rakesh “Rocky” Jai Singh. The team consists of skilled pilots, including Patty (played by Hrithik), who carries a troubled history, and Minni (played by Deepika), who harbors romantic feelings towards him. Following an attack in Pulwama by Akhtar, India counters with a strike in Balakot. It leads to a Pakistani retaliation. Some team members get captured. Patty is suspended for not following orders. He later joins a rescue mission for the captured soldiers.
Estimates suggest that the film “Fighter” has grossed over £350 crore at the box office, with £250.75 crore coming from India alone. In the movie, Hrithik portrays Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, known as Patty, while Deepika plays Squadron Leader Minal Rathore, known as Minni. Anil depicts Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, known as Rocky, as they bravely defend their country. This film marks the debut on-screen collaboration between Hrithik and Deepika. It is currently available for streaming on Netflix
