Arvind Kejariwal

Arvind Kejriwal,

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, refused to attend the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioning session for the third consecutive time on January 3.

Arvind Kejriwal-ED Dispute Live Updates: On Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of sending him “false summons” in connection with an alleged liquor policy scam.

Amid heightened speculation that the Delhi CM could face arrest by the central agency regarding the case, Kejriwal asserted that the ED’s notice was illegal. He expressed his willingness to cooperate but voiced concerns about the alleged intentions behind the notice.

Kejriwal, for the third time, refused to appear for questioning on January 3 in the money laundering case related to purported irregularities in the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.

The ED had issued a summons to Kejriwal for questioning on January 3 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the excise policy. This marked the third instance of Kejriwal refusing to appear before the federal agency, with previous summonses on November 2 and December 21.

In February 2023, former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of Delhi’s now-scrapped excise policy. The policy faced accusations of misconduct by the opposition and was withdrawn. AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh was also arrested in the same case in October 2023.

The ED has arrested at least 14 individuals in connection with the case and has sought court permission to investigate AAP as a beneficiary of the “proceeds of crime.”

AAP, Kejriwal epitome of corruption: Anurag Thakur
AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, once heralded as paragons of integrity, are now being labeled as the embodiment of corruption by Union Minister Anurag Thakur. Thakur’s comments followed the Delhi Lieutenant Governor’s recommendation for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into alleged irregularities surrounding the Mohalla clinic initiative led by the Kejriwal-led Delhi government. Thakur expressed his disappointment, stating, “Arvind Kejriwal and his government, who initially positioned themselves as champions of honesty in politics, have now transformed into the epitome of corruption.”
