Presenting the sixth consecutive Budget, including five annual Budgets and one interim, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to break the record held only by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai. This achievement surpasses the consecutive five-budget streak of predecessors like Manmohan Singh, Arun Jaitley, P. Chidambaram, and Yashwant Sinha. Morarji Desai, as Finance Minister, had presented five annual Budgets and one interim Budget between 1959-1964

On January 31, 2024, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, accompanied by Ministers of State Pankaj Chaudhary and Bhagwat Karad, prepares at her North Block office in New Delhi for the upcoming presentation of the Interim Budget 2024.

Ms. Sitharaman is set to present the Interim Budget 2024-25 on February 1, which will serve as a vote-on-account, granting the Government spending authority until a new government takes office after the general elections in April-May. The presentation is scheduled for Thursday in the Lok Sabha at 11 a.m., detailing budget allocations and revenue expectations for the financial year 2024-25. Following the speech in the lower house, the Budget documents will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha.
